Meet your dentist
A steady hand, a familiar face.
Dr. Zak Polonus, DDS MS, is trained in general and implant dentistry. He graduated from the USC School of Dentistry and completed his residency at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He's a Trojan through and through, having done his undergraduate, master's, and dental school there. He's also an accomplished implantologist, restoring function at the highest level, whether it's a single implant or a full-mouth all-on-X reconstruction. His philosophy treats oral health as inseparable from overall health, taking a holistic approach that improves both function and aesthetics at the same time.
He took over this practice, which has been in Corona del Mar for over 25 years, and kept the thing patients mention most: it still feels like a neighborhood office, not a franchise. We believe care should be personal and comfortable.
A Chicago native, Dr. Polonus now lives in Corona del Mar with his wife, Melody, whom he met during his undergraduate years at USC, and their daughter, Harper. In his free time he loves to fish, hike, and host friends over for a BBQ.

We work with most major PPO insurance plans and file claims directly on your behalf. Call our front desk with your plan details and we’ll confirm your coverage before your visit.
What happens at a first visit?+
A full exam, digital imaging as needed, a cleaning if you’re due, and an unrushed conversation with Dr. Polonus about anything you want addressed — cosmetic, restorative, or just routine.
Do you see dental emergencies?+
Yes. Call the office line directly — same-day and next-day emergency slots are held open every week.
Is sedation available for anxious patients?+
We offer oral sedation options for patients who find dental visits stressful. Mention it when booking so we can plan the appointment length accordingly.
